Title
The Burren, Wild Atlantic Way
Artist
K McCoy
Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
Dramatic painting of the limestone landscape of the Burren, County Clare, on the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland. In the distance stands a solitary Ash tree beneath a cloudy sky.
The Ash is one of the few types of trees that grows in this landscape. The ash tree is symbolic of strength, power, protection, hope, mystic power, and it can also relate to spirituality and things that happen in the physical realm. Celtic mythology refers to the ash tree as The World Tree, a tree that spans between worlds. It is the tree that represents The Tree of Life.
The Burren name comes from the Irish: Boireann, meaning "great rock."
